The signifier is the thing that does the communication and the signified if of that which is communicated What does 'Polysemy' mean? INTRODUCTION TO MEDIA: Why did you choose A level Media Studies? I chose Media Studies as it instantly intrigued me. I have always been interested in the media industry as it plays such an important part in today's world. The thought of analysing films as well as gaining a better understanding about aspects that make a film excited me so choosing Media Studies was a must. Did you take GCSE Media Studies? I did not take GCSE Media Studies at my previous school. What grade do you hope to achieve in A-Level Media? I hope to achieve at least a grade B hopefully an A. What are your current thoughts about your next steps after A Levels - university, apprenticeship, work? My Media Consumption: Newspapers: I read some newspapers some of which include: the weekly news, the standard, Sunday times and the daily telegraph I really enjoy reading newspapers as I am quite a passionate reader in general and enjoy reading a wide range of news whether that be on the television or through newspapers I tend to turn to the music section first as this is my biggest passion. Having performed in many theatre productions (in fact playing the lead roles), writing my own songs, participating in concerts as well as enhancing my guitar skills, I have grown to love the music industry from a very young age therefore, turning to the music section is always my first choice so that I can get a better understanding about what is happening in the field which I potentially may want to get into in the near future I also enjoy reading the crime section as i also find this very interesting.
