My Media Consumption:

Newspapers:
  • I read some newspapers some of which include: the weekly news, the standard, Sunday times and the daily telegraph
  • I really enjoy reading newspapers as I am quite a passionate reader in general and enjoy reading a wide range of news whether that be on the television or through newspapers
  • I tend to turn to the music section first as this is my biggest passion. Having performed in many theatre productions (in fact playing the lead roles), writing my own songs, participating in concerts as well as enhancing my guitar skills, I have grown to love the music industry from a very young age therefore, turning to the music section is always my first choice so that I can get a better understanding about what is happening in the field which I potentially may want to get into in the near future
  • I also enjoy reading the crime section as i also find this very interesting. As a career i would like to pursue investigative journalism which will include me having to travel to many different places and so it is also very important that i am up to date in this section to ensure that i am aware with a possible threats near myself when interviewing etc.
  • I tend to read less about politics and sports as these things have never really intrigued me
  • Although I am trying to read more about politics due to the catastrophe parliament is in right now
  •  I do play some sports such as tennis, basketball and netball but not regularly and so i don't share a deep interest for this
  • I usually read unique and enticing stories such as stories about murder/ death, scandalous news about celebrities or stories about strikes/ mass riots
  • I also particularly enjoy reading stories about social issues and also issues facing animals due to global warming and the ice age
  • When travelling to Central London or going to Sainsburys, I am usually able to pick up the free newspapers but this isn't very often so my mother usually picks some up for me after work or occasionally, my grandfather is able to pick some up from the newsagents or post office
  • I do look at online versions of some newspapers which include: BBC News, The Sun and The Guardian
  • I read BBC News as it is one of the biggest media productions for numerous of things
  • I also get many notifications when some breaking news comes through and in my opinion, BBC News is one of the most reliable news platforms
  • I also look at the sun and the guardian occasionally on snap chat as i am not very aware of these news websites in comparison to BBC News
Magazines:
  • I read some magazines but very rarely such as: VOGUE, Harper's Bazaar, Seventeen and Teen Vogue
  • I do not buy these regularly and normally tend to read most of their articles online
  • I tend to read the new and best beauty products section as well as the pages on clothing
  • I do not read magazines with lots of writing. I mostly enjoy reading magazines with lots of pictures
Television:
  • I spend approximately 3 hours watching tv a week
  • I watch television around about 4pm after school
  • I love watching BBC, ITV and film 4D because they are very enjoyable and interesting
  • I watch tv alone in the weekdays but at the weekend i watch it with my siblings. When i watch tv with my siblings they usually decide on what to watch
  • I watch a mix of both love and catch up tv to watch some of my favourite shows such as Killing Eve. I also watch Netflix on my laptop as well as on my television.
Radio:
  • I do listen to the radio
  • I like capital, kiss, westside and capital xtra as these stations often play mainstream songs which are relevant to what people listen to in today's day and age
  • I listen to some podcasts
  • I have listened to some of Mr Bruff's podcasts for English Literature
  • I spend around about 30 mins a week listening to podcasts and 1 hour a week listening to the radio
  • I usually listen to podcasts and the radio in the morning
  • I usually listen to podcasts and the radio on my phone or in the car
  • I get ready for school when listening to podcasts or the radio
  • My brother listens to the radio in the evening or when he gets ready in the morning
Film:
  • I have seen toy story 4 and IT Chapter 2 recently
  • I have seen Stranger Things, The Pursuit Of Happiness, Prison Break, Lucy, Black Mirror, The Hobbit and The Great British Bake Off recently on Netflix and amazon prime
  • My brother watched some of the films with me
  • I decided on which films to watch
  • I usually watch movies on my laptop or on the tv
Online:
  • I access the internet pretty much everyday to do work or to just surf the internet in my spare time
  • I access the internet at home as well as in school
  • The main sites that I access are Microsoft Outlook, Youtube, Hotmail and google docs
  • The main reasons for accessing these sites is so that I can complete my work, do some extra research, to do online shopping (occasionally), communicate with my friends and for entertainment
  • I also play some online games whilst accessing the internet
  • My primary device to access the internet is my laptop but i also use my phone to access the internet
  • The social networks that i usually use are: Snapchat, WhatsApp and occasionally Instagram so that i am able to communicate with my family and friends. I belong to these networks in particular as they are quick and easy to utilise
Reflection:
  • To develop the amount and variety of media that I consume, i can start to listen to the news, radio and podcasts more often (maybe in the evenings as well). I can also pick up more newspapers and magazines
  • Read and watch the news everyday, read a newspaper at least once a week and listen to the radio more often. I will also watch more movies particularly movies made in the 90s in relevance to the pieces of media that we study in class
  • I will access more Websites/Apps/TV Programmes
